The Scotsman and Scotland on Sunday website will continue to focus on the stories and issues that affect Scotland, the wider UK and globally but the changes to the site will help our website users better engage with the breadth of content on the site.

The changes we’ve made include an improved video player, a ‘Picks of the Day’ slot on every article to help visitors discover more content relevant to them, as well as more prominence for tweets.

The navigation for the site will change, to make it less cluttered and more intuitive. There is also more contact information, for easier communication. Existing registered users will also still be able to use their current login for commenting on the site.

The changes are predominantly on the desktop website – the one generally seen from a computer or tablet device.

There will be further enhancements to the digital experience in the coming months – especially around video and user generated content.

Editor of The Scotsman and Scotland on Sunday, Ian Stewart, said: “These changes are a dramatic improvement to our online service. I am confident the visitors to our site will enjoy the differences the changes bring to their experience of the site. But not only does it look fresher and more modern, it also allows us to present content in a much better way and I am sure that benefit will be apparent to users.

“I hope visitors are as pleased with it as I am, I see it as a significant step in our on-going drive to develop and expand our digital services and audience. I hope visitors give us their feedback, as that will help how we shape our future.”
