Text reminders for court witnesses

A TEXT scheme to remind witnesses to attend court is being expanded across Scotland.

The absence of witnesses is a common reason for trials having to be delayed, and Crown Agent Catherine Dyer said the initiative was a “simple but effective” way of ensuring more cases go ahead.

The scheme is being rolled out across Scotland after a pilot project in January for witnesses at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.
