Terror for three young men in spate of attacks

Police are appealing for information after three young men were attacked in a spate of incidents.

A teenager was attacked and seriously assaulted in what police said was a “horrible attack” with what appeared to be a bladed weapon.

The 18-year-old, who was treated in hospital for injuries to his leg and head, was attacked shortly before 1am on Sunday 2 October in Hawthorn Street, Possilpark, Glasgow.

He was approached by two men and tried to run away but tripped and was set upon, with a third man joining in. The three attackers then made off.

A second young man was assaulted as he walked his dogs on Monday night in an “unprovoked” attack in Renfrew.

The 21-year-old was set upon by two or three men, police said. He was taken to Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley for treatment to a head injury.

Police said one of the attackers is between 18 and 25, about 5ft 10in and was wearing a hooded tracksuit top. There is no description of the other suspects.

In the third attack, an 18-year-old man was robbed, apparently at knifepoint, on a bus in the Maryhill area of Glasgow.

He was “berated” by two men on the No 40 bus while on his way to college in the city centre. One of the men approached him and offered to shake his hand, but as the victim responded, the first man grabbed his hand and pulled him.

At the same time the second robber came up behind the man and held what is believed to be a blade against his neck.

The other man rummaged through the victim’s pockets and took his wallet and phone.
