Tennent's denies it was responsible for '˜giant sesh' letter

SCOTLAND's largest brewery has laughed off suggestions it wrote a letter to a customer who had asked to hold a large-scale party for his friends inside the facility.

Tennent Caledonian denied it was responsible for a piece of correspondence that was widely shared on social media last night.

The spoof letter was created to resemble an official response to a member of the public who had asked to hold a “giant sesh” at the Wellpark Brewery in the east end of Glasgow in honour of their friend “Deano”.

The letter read: “I am writing in reply to your letter dated January 25 in which you enquired about whether we would let you “hold a giant sesh” in our famous Wellpark Brewery. Unfortunately we do not let anyone, “sound as f***” or not, hold parties on our premises and in fact it would be a violation of business and licensing laws.”

The letter ended with a suggestion the party would be more appropriately held in Airdrie or Coatbridge.

George Kyle, head of PR at Tennent’s Lager said: “We’re glad to say that the letter isn’t actually real.

“Poor Deano hasn’t had his heart broken and we’ve absolutely nothing against Airdrie and Coatbridge.

“Someone’s just gone to extraordinary lengths to try and get a free pint – or a few retweets on Twitter.”
