Tenants are facing a bill of £300,000

RESIDENTS of a Glasgow tenement are facing a £300,000 repair bill from damaged caused by a flat they did not know existed.

Flawed work on a ground floor flat had been covered over until other tenants lost water pressure, which flagged up the mystery property.

Once police broke through concrete, the condition of the 13th flat of the property in the city's Allison Street was so bad, residents were given an hour to evacuate for fear the building could collapse at any moment.

Tenants are struggling to track down the absentee landlord who abandoned the flat. If they do not find the owner, they will be left facing a bill that could top 300,000.
