Ten cannabis plants found in drug raid

CANNABIS plants were discovered in the latest raid by police targeting drug-dealers in the Capital.

Officers raided an address in Breadalbane Street as part of the ongoing Operation Adrenalin and ten plants were discovered, with an estimated value of 1,500. Enquiries are now under way to locate the people behind the cultivation.

Operation Adrenalin focuses on dealing with local concerns about dealers in communities.

Since its launch three months ago, officers have seized around 30,000 worth of drugs, including heroin, cocaine and crack cocaine, cannabis and prescription drugs. Almost 10,000 worth of cash has also been seized.

Officers have also seized three complete hydroponics systems, used in cannabis cultivation.

As part of the operation, 34 people have been arrested and charged in connection with various drugs charges including possession, possession with intent to supply, and being concerned in the supply of drugs.

Detective Inspector Andy McLaughlin said: "We are dedicated to tackling drug activity at a grass-roots level, since we know low-level offending can spiral into increasingly destructive criminal behaviour."
