Television festival adds new dimension

A SPECIAL series of events looking at the future of 3D viewing are to be among the highlights at this year's Edinburgh International Television Festival.

Registration for delegate places at the 35th annual event is now under way and organisers have promised a string of special events for the 2010 get-together.

The opening reception will be held in the Museum of Scotland, while there will also be masterclasses and debates, networking and a chance to learn about the latest trends.

These include 3D, which has been growing in popularity thanks to improvements in technology.

The success of James Cameron's hit movie Avatar has helped cement the acceptance of 3D among cinema audiences, and it is now expected that home 3D viewing will become a huge growth area for the TV industry during the next decade.
