Teenager's jaw broken in attack outside nightclub

A TEENAGER was hospitalised with a broken jaw after an unprovoked attack by a gang of young men minutes after he left a nightclub.

The 18-year-old victim and his friend had left the Lava and Ignite nightclub in Tollcross at around 3am on Monday and the pair had walked to Ponton Street when they were attacked.

They both suffered facial injuries, and were taken by ambulance to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

The main suspect is described as white, 17 to 23-years-old, 5ft 10ins tall, medium build, with short blond hair. He was wearing a red checked shirt with a white pattern, and blue jeans.

A police spokesman said: "One of the victims suffered a broken jaw as a result of this unprovoked attack, and we are appealing for any information that can help us identify those responsible.

"Anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened should contact police.

"Similarly, anyone who recognises the description of the suspect, or who has any other information that can assist our enquiries, should also get in touch."
