Teenager in blaze rescue

A TEENAGER was rescued from a house in Mayfield when fire broke out in the early hours of this morning.

The 18-year-old was saved from the fire in Larch Crescent, Mayfield, after the alarm was raised at around 3.45am.

He was treated at the scene for slight smoke inhalation and did not need to be taken to hospital.

The house was described by the fire service as "well alight" when they arrived. The blaze was extinguished by firefighters using two high-pressure hose reels.

The fire, which had started in the front bedroom of the house, was extinguished by 5.20am, though firefighters remained in attendance for several hours.
