Teenager guilty of murdering friend

A TEENAGER has been convicted of murdering his 19-year-old friend by stabbing him to death after a row at a party.John Dick, 19, admitted killing Leslie Berry, but denied murdering him.

The High Court in Glasgow heard that Dick stabbed Mr Berry six times. The fatal blow severed the femoral artery in his thigh and he bled to death.

A row developed between the two men after Mr Berry wanted to throw Dick’s brother Jamie out of his house because he had damaged his kitchen.

The jury found Dick guilty of murdering Mr Berry by repeatedly striking him on the body with a knife or knives. The fatal attack took place on August 7, last year, at Mr Berry’s home in Kilsyth, North Lanarkshire.

Dick will be detained without limit of time. Sentence was deferred until next month under judge John Morris QC.
