Teenager arrested over Greenock street stabbing

A TEENAGER has been arrested in connection with the death of a teenager who died in hospital after being stabbed on Friday night.

Christopher Knox, 17, from Crisswell Close in Greenock, was taken to Inverclyde Royal Infirmary following reports of an altercation at Kylemore Lane at around 10.50pm.

A 16-year-old man is currently in police custody and is expected to appear at Greenock Sheriff Court today.

Detective Chief Inspector Ricky Mason, from Strathclyde Police, said that officers had received an "excellent response from the public" and added that everyone in the community had been "shattered" by Mr Knox's death.

MSP for Greenock and Inverclyde Duncan McNeil said: "This is another tragedy for Greenock and my heart goes out to the family of this young lad. The whole community is in shock."
