A teenager has been arrested and charged after a motorist was driven at in an alleged road rage incident.

Two cars had been involved in several minor collisions on the A71 between the Newpark and Wilderness roundabouts in Livingston on Saturday.

Both cars pulled over and the 45-year-old driver of one vehicle got out.

The motorist in the other car then allegedly reversed back and drove at the man, who had to jump out of the way.

Police, who were treating the incident as attempted murder, confirmed that an 18-year-old man had been arrested and charged.

The teenager has also been charged with a number of offences under the Road Traffic Act and will appear at Livingston Sheriff Court today.

Detectives in West Lothian are still appealing for witnesses to a second incident which happened last weekend.

A 58-year-old man suffered leg injuries when he was driven at on North Reeves Place, Whitburn at around 11pm on Saturday night.

The incident, which was completely unconnected to the Livingston case, is also being treated as attempted murder.
