Teen pulled free from gorse woe

A TEENAGER had to be rescued from Arthur's Seat after her ankle became stuck while climbing with friends.

The fire brigade had to bring in specialist line rescue equipment to reach the 15-year-old after she trapped her ankle in a gorse bush around 10.15pm last night.

Around 15 firefighters were called to the scene, along with police and paramedics, and located the group around one third of the way up the hill behind Our Dynamic Earth in Holyrood.

Fire crews managed to free the girl's ankle, before using lines of rope to lower her to the ground by around 11.30pm.

A spokesman for the fire service said: "We located the girl and used line rescue equipment to access the area. We released her and lowered her to the ground.

"She was treated by paramedics for a sprained ankle, but did not require treatment."
