Teen pays for golf club raid

A TEENAGER who stole lead from a golf club roof has been told he will have to pay for any repair work.

Robin Townsley, 18, had sentence deferred at Livingston Sheriff Court yesterday for the prosecution to find out how much it will cost.

Lynn Barry, prosecuting, said police were called after Townsley’s van was seen driving up and down the road leading to the golf club late at night.

Officers stopped the accused alone in his van later that evening and Townsley admitted that the metal in the back was stolen.

Townsley, of North Lanarkshire, earlier pleaded guilty to stealing the lead at Greenburn Golf Club in Fauldhouse, West Lothian, on June 22 last year.
