Teen held after stolen car in crash

FOUR people were taken to hospital following a head-on collision in Tranent involving a stolen vehicle.

Police detained a 19-year-old man in connection with yesterday's smash on Elphinstone Road, in which a stolen Citroen Picasso collided with another vehicle at about 2:45pm.

Two people were transported to the Royal Infirmary suffering from neck and back pain, while another two were treated for minor injuries.

Firefighters helped remove a female passenger thought to be in her forties and said a four-year-old girl was treated at the scene.
