Teen body-surfing a car is run over in Glasgow

A SCOTS teenager is in hospital after ‘body surfing’ on the bonnet of a moving car, falling off and then being run over.

The 17-year-old, who has not been named. was taken to the Southern General Hospital in Glasgow after sustaining serious injuries to her torso and legs.

The incident happened around 5.05pm on Thursday at Bensfield Farm in Carron, Falkirk.

Road Policing Officers responded to the scene to conduct an investigation and the road was closed for about three hours.

Inspector David McKenzie of Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit said: “To stand or sit on the bonnet whilst it is moving is incredibly dangerous and, as this incident has shown, can lead to serious injury.

“Our enquiries into exactly what has happened are ongoing, and we are keen to speak to other motorists or members of the public who were in the area and have information relevant to our ongoing investigation.

“I would also urge that others do not attempt this stunt. If you witnesses anyone engaging in this or similar activities then please contact police immediately.”
