Teachers urged to reject offer

Scotland's largest teaching union has called for its members to reject a deal on changes to their pay and conditions.

The EIS said talks with the government and councils body Cosla had broken down after failing to come to an agreement.

The proposals included a two-year pay freeze, a cut in sick pay and lower pay for teachers whose posts had been abolished.

The EIS will ballot its members on the proposals next month.
