Teachers take to city streets

TEACHERS and members of other trade unions were today set to march through the Capital to protest against spending cuts.

The Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS) said teachers and lecturers will take to the streets as part of a larger public services demonstration in Edinburgh.

The march and rally, organised with the Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC), aims to highlight concerns about the impact of Chancellor George Osborne's cuts package on Scotland.

The wider march was to begin at about 11am on East Market Street before travelling along Princes Street to a rally with speakers from unions and the Church of Scotland.
