Taxi driver assaulted
A PRIVATE hire driver was assaulted during an attempted robbery after he picked up four people for a fare.
The 61-year-old man had picked up the two men and two women from Bridgend and taken them to Bathgate when he was attacked by one of the men in Belvedere Place shortly after 8.15pm on Wednesday.
A police spokesman said: "Anyone who witnessed a man and a woman fleeing from the car or acting suspiciously in the area is asked to contact police."
