Tasered gran, 87, sues town

AN 87-YEAR-OLD grandmother who was Tasered by police while hooked up to an oxygen machine in her bed is suing her Oklahoma hometown.

Attorney Brian Dell said he filed the lawsuit on 21 June on behalf of his client, Lona Varner, suing the town of El Reno.

Mrs Varner's grandson called police on 22 December and said his grandmother was suicidal and may have taken some unknown medicine.

Officer Thomas Duran said in a police report that Mrs Varner pulled out a knife and threatened to kill him. The report says another officer used a Taser stun gun on her.
