Tarantulas find new home

A COLONY of more than 20 pink-toe tarantulas has moved into a unique new high-rise home at Deep Sea World in North Queensferry.

The tree-dwelling spiders, which originate from Guyana, are part of the aquarium's new JAWS exhibition - featuring dangerous creatures from around the world.

Visitors are able to watch the tarantulas from the outside of their display and they can also view them through a two-metre tall acrylic viewing tower.

Deep Sea World's Tina Aydon said: "We've called the new display '8' and it may sound like an arachnophobes idea of hell, however it's proving really popular with visitors who seem to relish the chance to be literally surrounded by the spiders - which grow up to 13 cms across."
