Tapestry to stay on view

The display of a 104-metre-long tapestry depicting the Battle of Prestonpans is to be extended due to popular demand.

The tapestry, which is the longest in the world, was only to be on show at Dovecot Studios, on Infirmary Street, until the end of last week but it will now remain at the venue until December 11.

Artist Andrew Crummy, who designed the tapestry, said: "We've been delighted by the response of audiences in Edinburgh and wanted to give as many people as possible the chance to see it.

"Several hundred visitors a day have come to see the tapestry and there is no sign of interest tailing off."
