Talk 107 boss launches bid to save station

THE director of Talk 107 has launched a bid to save the station.

Station director Matt Allitt is leading a group behind a proposed management buyout of the first all-talk radio station outside of London.

The move is being supported by the station's owner, UTV Radio (GB), which put it up for sale in October.

UTV, which also owns TalkSport, said last month that if no buyer is found for Talk 107 it will hand back the Edinburgh FM license to Ofcom.

It said that it is unlikely to become profitable within a "reasonable timescale".

In a statement today, UTV said: "Both UTV Radio (GB) and Matt Allitt are working to conclude the deal before Christmas, securing the future of the station under new independent ownership."
