Takeaway set for go-ahead

A SHOP on Nicolson Street is set to be turned into a takeaway, despite objections from local residents and businesses.

Akil Aslam and Amah Shah have submitted plans to change the use of the unit at 51 Nicolson Street from shop to cafe and takeaway. They wanted the new cafe to open at 7am every day and close at 11pm.

Southside Community Council said that there is already an excessive concentration of cafes and takeaways.

Planning officials recommended approval, but they only want to allow the takeaway element until 8pm, although the cafe could open until 11pm.
