Swim centre is back open

A CITY swimming pool has reopened nearly a week after a smashed door forced its closure.

Leith Victoria Swim Centre had to shut when the glass in the poolside sauna door broke last Sunday, raising fears there could be glass shards in the water.

One man received hospital treatment after cutting his hand.

To make sure the pool was safe for swimmers, it was emptied, cleaned and swept, before being refilled. It reopened yesterday.

Graeme Gardiner, director of operations for Edinburgh Leisure, which runs the pool, said: “A full investigation is taking place to identify the cause.”
