'Sustained attack' killed man in his flat

A MAN who was killed in his home suffered a "sustained attack", police said yesterday.

A murder inquiry has been launched into the death of 35-year-old John Brennan in his flat in the Shettleston area of Glasgow on Thursday. His body was found in the flat in Cockenzie Street after a neighbour raised concerns.

Detective Inspector Graham Cordner of Shettleston CID said: "We do not know exactly when Mr Brennan died but, suffice to say, it was as a result of a violent attack.

"There were signs of a disturbance in the house so it is possible that people heard something that may pinpoint when this attack took place.

"Mr Brennan, who lived alone, had stayed in Shettleston all his life. He was well known in the area."

Officers have been speaking to residents and checking available CCTV from the area.
