Survey on residents' views scaled back to save money

A SURVEY that provides residents' views on how the Capital is run is to be scaled back.

The Edinburgh Residents Survey is produced every six months by the city council, but the survey, which costs 25,000 to produce, will now be "streamlined" with the separate Annual Neighbourhood Survey. The joint survey will be produced just once a year.

Jim Inch, director of the city council's department of corporate services, said: "We are doing it for financial reasons."

The neighbourhood survey is less expensive as it does not involve face-to-face interviews, unlike the residents survey.

Mr Inch confirmed that the amalgamated survey will still contain a question about whether people are satisfied with the way the council is run.
