Surjit Singh Chhokar: 1998 murder accused charged

A man has been charged with murdering a waiter more than 15 years ago.

Ronnie Coulter, 46, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court yesterday in connection with the death of Surjit Singh Chhokar in Overtown, North Lanarkshire, in 1998.

Mr Coulter, from Wishaw, North Lanarkshire, made no plea or declaration and was released on bail.

He will appear in court again at a later date.
