Surfer, 12, in rescue drama

A 12-YEAR-OLD boy had to be rescued by ambulance and coastguard after suffering head injuries while surfing off the coast of Dunbar.

Coastguards drove paramedics across the beach in a 4x4 to get the boy as the tide came in yesterday at around 5.20pm.

A spokesman for Forth Coastguard said: "We had a call to recover the boy from the beach and we drove the medics out to get to him. They took him to the Sick Kids in Edinburgh to be treated."

An ambulance spokesman said the boy's injuries were not serious.
