Supermarket lodges bus depot plans

A SUPERMARKET chain has lodged a planning application to redevelop the site of a former bus depot.

Morrisons wants to create hundreds of jobs by building a new store in Dalkeith.

The proposed store includes a café, as well as a butcher, baker and a fishmonger.

Development executive Richard Bakes, speaking on behalf of Morrisons, said: “We are delighted that our planning application has been submitted.

“Our ambitious plans for Dalkeith will benefit the local area in a number of ways. The site will provide new, local jobs and enhanced choice for shoppers, whilst we also hope the development will act as a catalyst for further regeneration.”
