Supermarket highlights the a-peel of Fairtrade goods

STAFF swapped their uniforms for something a bit more fruity at a Lothians supermarket.

The Co-operative Food store in Tranent has been taking part in Fairtrade Fortnight, with Graeme Paterson among those donning larger-than-life fruit costumes.

Colin Woods, store manager, said: "It's not every day you find giant fruit walking around your local grocery store, so hopefully our antics will encourage shoppers to think about the global benefits of picking up Fairtrade products locally."

Fairtrade Fortnight aims to raise the profile of products which guarantee a fair price for producers in developing countries.
