Superfast net for Lothians

THREE Lothians towns are to receive the latest BT fibre optic broadband upgrade as part of an ongoing drive to bring faster internet to residents across Scotland.

Around 12,000 people in Bathgate, 18,000 in Dalkeith and 10,800 in Musselburgh will benefit from the upgrade, which was announced yesterday.

BT said the upgrade, which will allow speeds of up to 40Mb/s, would be available to the vast majority of residents by spring 2012.

Brendan Dick, BT Scotland director, said: "This latest investment in super-fast broadband is great news for many homes and businesses."
