Summer fete to raise funds for veterans

PEOPLE across Edinburgh and the Lothians are being urged to have some fun and help raise money for the city's veterans.

The Erskine Edinburgh Home in Gilmerton is holding its annual summer fete on 29 May, which will mark the start of events in the Capital for the charity's Erskine Week, which aims to raise awareness and funds for the veterans' charity.

The event, which runs from 2-4pm, will feature a baking stall, plant sale, raffle, tombola, children's games and a wide range of Erskine merchandise.

East of Scotland fundraiser, John Fyfe, said: "This year's event is more important than ever before. The opening of our new expanded care home in Gilmerton last year saw our care provision in the Capital more than double, so we are calling on the local community to support our cause and join in the fun."

Entry costs 1.50 for adults and 1 for children, and includes tea/coffee and a cake.
