Suicide bid closes roads

POLICE dealing with a man threatening to jump from North Bridge sealed off major roads, sparking traffic chaos in rush hour.

At around 4:30pm yesterday North Bridge was closed, with officers manning barriers at Princes Street and High Street, and Market Street was closed at Jeffrey Street. All reopened after nearly two hours.

A 34-year-old, believed to be a foreign national, was safely removed from the bridge and has been arrested.
