Stylish show raises £3,000 for orphans

A GLITZY fashion show in aid of Kenyan orphans has strutted its way to a £3,000 bounty.

More than 200 fashionistas lined the makeshift runway in Cargo bar and restaurant on Thursday to admire the wares of Edinburgh's top boutiques.

A dozen models glided along the catwalk on the upper floor of the venue wearing garments stocked and created by Joyce Paton and Totty Rocks, as well as offerings from Corniche and Xile. The show was organised by Stolen Model Agency.

All proceeds will be donated to Mission In Action, a charity orphanage dedicated to supporting children being cared for at Nakuru Baby Orphanage in western Kenya.

Event co-organiser Annalese McDermott, 32, said: "It was a brilliant night and possibly our most successful so far."

Miss McDermott, who visited the orphanage in 2006 and has since helped raise about 60,000 for the cause, added: "All the money we raise is going towards extending the school to accommodate more children."
