Study targets Alzheimer's

NEW studies are to be carried out at Edinburgh University to find different ways of diagnosing a form of dementia.

The Alzheimer's Research Trust has given the university 26,000 for the programme.

Alzheimer's is a difficult disease to diagnose, and by the time it has been identified, irreversible damage has often been done. The research aims to help speed up diagnosis and treatment.

While it isn't expected to find a cure, it could lead to improvements in palliative care.
