Study breaks new ground

RESEARCHERS are hoping to establish a better understanding of the ground beneath our feet as a result of a new study.

A team of seismologists have been working with Rapid - a group of computer scientists at the University of Edinburgh - to come up with increased knowledge of how earthquakes travel, which would prove valuable to earthquake planners.

Jano van Hemert, leader of the Rapid team, said: "The seismologists are very open to trying out new ways of working."
