Students set to cause a stir at hospitality competition

CATERING students from Telford College have been short-listed to take part in a national hospitality competition.

ScotHot2011 is a new competition based in a real restaurant scenario which will allow six Scottish colleges to highlight the skills of their learners to the hospitality industry.

A custom-built restaurant will sit at the heart of Scotland's hospitality trade show where the student chefs will prepare food in viewing kitchens, whilst their front-of-house colleagues serve it to some of the best-known figures in Scottish hospitality.

The winning team will not only have the honour of being named "future talent champions", but will also get the chance to work with staff at the Gleneagles Hotel during an industry experience day.

Telford's food and hospitality lecturer, Michael Henderson, said: "We are delighted to have reached the finals and to have been given the opportunity to showcase the outstanding culinary talents of Telford."
