Students organise gig to raise funds for Peru trip

Students from Craigmount High School in Edinburgh will be heading on an expedition to Southern Peru in June of this year to help out in impoverished rural communities.

The main project is rebuilding and refurbishing a school in the area.

Fifteen pupils are taking part in the programme through World Challenge. The students will get the chance to explore the surrounding landscape as well as volunteering with rural projects. They will be staying in tents in the rural areas and interacting with local people.

The latest fundraising event organised by the group is a concert in the city. The gig will take place on January 15 at Studio 24, Calton Road and will feature unsigned acts including Dirty Modern Hero, Six Storeys High, Sidelock and People, Places, and Maps.

Each participant needs to raise 3500 so the students have been involved in a lot of fundraising, including bagpacking and bake sales.
