Students attacked in Edinburgh by gang of 20

• A dozen foreign students have been attacked by a gang of 20 youths outside the Millenium Centre on Muirhouse Medway

The exchange students were socialising outside the Millennium Centre on Muirhouse Medway at around 10pm on Wednesday when they were confronted by a group of around 15-20 local youths.

Two of the students were assaulted and robbed, and another two students received minor injuries.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the attack.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “This was an unprovoked attack on a group of foreign students who are currently staying with host families in Edinburgh.

“Inquiries are continuing and we are determined to find those responsible for this attack. Additional high visibility police patrols are in the area and anyone with any information is asked to contact us.”

Those responsible for the attack were within a group of both males and females and aged between around 9-18 years of age.
