Student kept child porn

A STUDENT caught with more than 1000 images of underage girls on his laptop has been ordered to carry out 200 hours of community service.

Edinburgh University geology student Jonathan Wright, 19, initially denied having the images but later admitted he had downloaded the material.

Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday heard the teenager said he wanted to see if the images were real and admitted he liked doing something "dangerous".

The officers found Wright had 1005 indecent images and 46 videos mostly involving girls aged between ten and 13.

Wright, of Warrender Park Crescent, admitted possession of the images between August 26 and November 17 last year.

Sheriff Alistair Noble also placed Wright on probation for three years and ordered him to be on the sex offenders register.
