Student fees up for debate

THE hot topic of university funding will be debated at a seminar next week organised by the David Hume Institute.

Sir Andrew Cubie, who led the review of higher education in Scotland a decade ago and who has recently said the option of reintroducing tuition fees should be kept open, will be a keynote speaker alongside Neil Shepard, an economics professor at Oxford University.

Education Secretary Michael Russell has declared fees off limits. The event is at the Playfair Library on Monday at 6pm.
