Stuart and Stott saddle up for charity

A YOUNG lymphoma survivor, and a local radio star Grant Stott will be dusting off their bikes to raise money for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.

Stuart Reid, 16, of Midlothian, will be joined by his friends to take part in the charity's Bikeathon on Sunday, 23 May.

More than 400 people got on their bikes to take part in the first Scottish Bikeathon in 2009, and organisers hope to increase participation to help raise even more money for the charity.

Stuart is taking part to give something back to the charity after he was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphatic system, at just ten years old.

He said: "I want to take part in the Bikeathon this year to help raise awareness of leukaemia and lymphoma, and to contribute to the charity's research that will hopefully one day find a cure".

The Bikeathon starts and finish at the historic Drumpellier country park.

Also taking part is Forth One presenter, Grant Stott, who is riding for the second year running in memory of his lifelong friend, Moray Fotheringham.

Anyone who wants to take part in the event should visit www.bikeathonbritain.co.uk/glasgow or call 0131-669 7862.
