Strong winds fan flames of house blaze

STRONG winds fanned the flames of a huge roof fire in Colinton.

The blaze in the roof of a house in Colinton Road started at around 5:30pm yesterday, setting the skyline alight in the west of the city.

Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service were bombarded with calls, with dozens of neighbours standing on the streets to watch the blaze.

No-one was in the building at the time, and there were no injuries.

Eyewitness Madison Frain, 14, said: "Most of the attic roof had been burned away."
