Street can have its cake and eat it

MORE that £100,000 of improvements to the shops on Magdalene Drive have been unveiled – and the occasion was marked with a special cake made to look like the regenerated area.

Local baker Alex Stewart whipped up the creation for the ceremony on Saturday. It was later enjoyed by residents.

The improvements have included adding shrubs and trees, upgrading the paths and putting new bollards in place. Walls have also been refurbished and paving replaced.

John Clark, and community councillor for Magdalene, said: "Already residents have commented on the difference."
