Strait ahead for charity

A MOTHER-of-three will attempt to swim across the second largest tidal whirlpool in the world to raise funds for charity.

Cat MacLean, an Edinburgh-based commercial lawyer, and her brother Fergus - a doctor - will attempt to swim across the infamous Corryvreckan Whirlpool, located between the islands of Jura and Scarba, on Saturday to raise money for CHAS.

The pair will have just 40 minutes to swim across the strait before the tide turns and their goal becomes unobtainable.
