Steel-coated bollards are installed at city's airport

STEEL-COATED concrete bollards are being installed at Edinburgh Airport as part of a major revamp of the area in front of the terminal.

Work on the security measures which will see a complete overhaul of the old forecourt begin today, with work set to continue until June.

The bus lane in front of the airport is being resurfaced while other general upgrades are also being carried out.

While a through-lane is being kept open, no traffic will be allowed to stop in front of the terminal.

All bus services will be temporarily relocated to the coach park beside the main terminal, while the coach park is also being moved.

The taxi drop-off area has already been relocated to a new permanent position.

The 3m project is part of a wider programme of investment and development at Edinburgh Airport, which will see a new security hall and upgraded departure lounge open this year.

Airport managing director Gordon Dewar said: "I'd like to thank passengers in advance for their patience whilst we upgrade this important part of Edinburgh Airport."
