PASSENGER numbers at Edinburgh Airport rose by eight per cent last month, new figures show.

The rise on the same period last year came as operator BAA said its six airports across the UK had handled a total of 9.9 million passengers - up 4.4 per cent on June 2010.

Heathrow handled 6.1 million passengers last month, a 6.3 per cent rise on June 2010 and the west London airport's busiest-ever June.
