Statement call over care home

Opposition MSPs are urging the Scottish Government to make an emergency statement after the death of a 59-year-old woman who had been living at a private care home.

The woman became unwell last week at Elsie Inglis Nursing Home in Abbeyhill, Edinburgh, and she was taken to the city's Royal Infirmary. She died two days later, prompting a police investigation and a report was sent to the procurator-fiscal.

Scottish Labour yesterday demanded that Holyrood provides a statement to clarify what action has been taken since the resident's death. Edinburgh council said earlier this week that some other residents had been moved to other care homes.
