Start-ups on rise in Capital

THE number of new businesses started in Edinburgh has increased by a third.

City council figures show 1057 new businesses were incorporated in Edinburgh in the three months to the end of June 2010, a 33 per cent increase on last year.

The figures suggest Edinburgh is doing better than comparable cities, where there was only an 11.4 per cent increase.

The data also showed that commercial property take-up was running at double the rate of last year in July.
